About Hannah Warren

Where did you learn to row and who was your first coach?

Jesus College Boat Club, Callum Bland.

What inspires you about sport?

I love that sport gives you the opportunity to push yourself and to constantly strive to improve. Even more than that, I love being part of a team and getting the chance to form friendships with so many wonderful people.

Explain your earliest memory of The Boat Race

I remember my dad describing how he'd go to watch each year while he was growing up in London and how exciting it was. That made it really special to go watch it for the first time myself.

Do you relish in hours in the gym and miles in the dark, or do you live for race days?

I love getting into the swing of a routine, trusting in a training plan and tracking improvements throughout the weeks.

What's the secret to managing elite-level sport with studying at one of the top universities in the world?

I think the key is being organised, but also recognising that sport actually helps rather than hinders. Training gives me valuable headspace outside of academics, and without that balance I don’t think I’d study as effectively - or as happily. At times it can be stressful but the opportunities and experiences you are afforded through sport make up for the sacrifices made.
