About Hannah Snow
Where did you learn to row and who was your first coach?
Cambridge '99 Rowing Club - Christian Lindig.
What inspires you about sport?
I love the sense of shared ambition and camaraderie that comes from being part of a team, pushing your limits together, and how every person always striving to be that tiny bit better makes a huge difference to the team as a whole, whether that's 11 on a hockey pitch, or eight in a boat.
Explain your earliest memory of The Boat Race
We've actually always watched The Boat Race as a family, despite never having any background in rowing, my dad loves all sports and it was just another thing we watched every year such as Wimbledon. As a family we had no affiliation to either Oxford or Cambridge, but my mum always supported Cambridge because it's where she got her wedding dress from 35 years ago, so my dad always cheered Oxford! Since being in Cambridge for the last few years I've still watched it and supported Cambridge seeing as we live here now. But my growing interest in rowing this year, and my place at the university, has put a whole new spin on it, we were all absolutely rooting for Cambridge!
Do you relish in hours in the gym and miles in the dark, or do you live for race days?
I don't have much background in rowing, but anything that involves being with my friends, whether it was us all flying and dying on our first attempt at a 2k or prepping for our first bumps race, if it's with my team/crew I'm here for it!
What's the secret to managing elite-level sport with studying at one of the top universities in the world?
I wouldn't know yet... I'll let you know at Christmas.
