What inspires you about sport?
The positive influence a sports team can have on a group of people; as a South African this is naturally incredibly visible through the Springboks.
Explain your earliest memory of The Boat Race
At my high school every year we had a Boat Race event as a rowing club fundraiser, and we were always made to choose a ribbon. I always chose dark blue.
Do you relish in hours in the gym and miles in the dark, or do you live for race days?
Nothing creates friendships like a rowing team and realistically it’s the gruelling hours which form such incredible memories and relationships. But with that being said, I do love an opportunity to perform and compete, there’s really nothing like race day!
What's the secret to managing elite-level sport with studying at one of the top universities in the world?
Get your priorities straight and manage your time accordingly.
