About Bella Munro

Where did you learn to row and who was your first coach?

Peterhouse Boat Club, Clive Keeler.

What inspires you about sport?

I love that athletes in Cambridge not only take their sport super seriously, but also their degrees. Everyone here is unbelievably driven and can thrive under pressure - that's something I would like to emulate. There is also a huge aspect of sport that translates to other parts of life - working in a team, time management, discipline etc.

Explain your earliest memory of The Boat Race

My cousin James went to Oxford a few years before I started at Cambridge, so I was aware of it long before I started rowing at college. He was actually the Lightweight Men's President for OUBC in 2024 - there's a little bit of light blue vs dark blue rivalry!

Do you relish in hours in the gym and miles in the dark, or do you live for race days?

The post-training endorphin kick is what keeps me going - I love watching the numbers go down. That said, Bumps week with my college crew always made the training feel worth it.

What's the secret to managing elite-level sport with studying at one of the top universities in the world?

I'm not sure I've figured that out yet, but eight hours of sleep always helps.
