About Anna Linda Elvre

Where did you learn to row and who was your first coach?

Homerton College Boat Club. My first coaches were Will Norman and Emile Czernuszka, but I was taught to row by my college Lower Boats Captains, Grace Pavey, Abbie Moorcroft, and Mia Stacey.

What inspires you about sport?

One of the things that inspires me about rowing, especially in Cambridge, is that for many people it is a sport that they find after having given up on another sport or having never felt like they fully belonged in a sport before. I think that this sense of having a second chance at sport and building a community from it is inspiring.

Explain your earliest memory of The Boat Race

I have no idea when I actually came to know about The Boat Race, I feel like I have always known about it in some capacity. However I do know that it was like the second thing my dad mentioned to me when I told him about applying to Cambridge, long before I had even considered starting to row, so that might be my earliest concrete memory.

Do you relish in hours in the gym and miles in the dark, or do you live for race days?

Definitely the hours in the gym and miles in the dark. That is where you truly fall in love with the sport and make the best memories.
