About Sean:

Why did you choose PhD in Architecture?

I’m pursuing a PhD in Architecture because I want to help quantifiably strategize how we can improve the social inclusive wellbeing of our built environment.

Why did you first try rowing?

My school required each student to play a sport each term. I was an out of shape nerdy kid, so was a good friend of mine – but, my friend’s parent was also a rower. Our parents hatched a plan: my parents told me my friend wanted to start rowing with me, and my friend’s parents told me friend that I wanted to start rowing with them. The rest is history.

Who introduced you to the sport of rowing?

Rob Montague at Greenwich Crew

Where else have you rowed?

RowAmerica Rye, United States Junior National Rowing Team, Harvard Varsity Lightweights, Danske Studenters Roklub, Sarasota Rowing Club, Saugatuck Rowing Club, Harvard University Boat Club, Jesus College Boat Club

What are your proudest rowing achievements?

Stroking the victorious Goldie Crew in the 2023 Men’s Reserve Boat Race, 2x USRowing Youth National Champion (4+, 2-).

What would winning The Boat Race mean to you?

For the last 5 years I’ve felt like I have forgotten how to row. To me, winning the Boat Race might just make me feel like all those years rowing weren’t spent chasing a sensation that might have otherwise never come.
