About Jessica:
Why did you choose veterinary medicine?
Fundamentally fuelled by my deep-rooted love of animals, my desire to study vet med came from the time I spent in veterinary practices and on farms, witnessing first-hand the intricacies of surgery and the care provided to each animal really drove me into the profession. I also love the variety of species we learn about and treat, and the idea that the profession could take me anywhere from english farms, to game reserves in far flung countries.
Why did you first try rowing?
with not a lot else running in a covid freshers week one of my now best friends convinced me to sign up for a taster session with her late one night. After a year off because of injury, when i started back in easter term i was hooked!
Who introduced you to the sport of rowing?
Chris Radbone at Queens’ college Cambridge
Where else have you rowed?
only cubc 🙂
What are your proudest rowing achievements?
winning fours head in the academic 4+ 2022
Do you have a favourite Boat Race? Which one and why?
The 2016 women’s boat race – the toughness shown by the cambridge crew despite significant adversity will always inspire me to keep pushing.
What would winning The Boat Race mean to you?
A culmination of the hard work, sacrifice and dedication personally, throughout everyone in the squad and by the coaches. Although, winning the race will just be an additional gain, with the friendships, strength and mental/physical developments gained being the most significant benefit.
