About Simran Gill
Where did you learn to row and who was your first coach?
King Edward IV School Boat Club in Stratford upon Avon, Andrew Pengilley and Andrew Roe.
What inspires you about sport?
The thing I love the most about sport is the sense of community it fosters. Both as a spectator and as a competitor, sport makes you feel a part of something greater than yourself; be it at a Park Run, a football match or on a rowing team.
Explain your earliest memory of The Boat Race
Sitting with my aunts and uncles to watch The Boat Rrace on TV in 2007 - I was told to support Cambridge as that's where my aunt lived!
Do you relish in hours in the gym and miles in the dark, or do you live for race days?
I'm a competitive person and the energy of race day makes all the early mornings in the cold worth it.
What's the secret to managing elite-level sport with studying at one of the top universities in the world?
Meal prep - no one wants to cook at the end of a long day when you still have an essay to finish.
