About Elisabeth Edwards

Where did you learn to row and who was your first coach?

Stratford-upon-Avon Boat Club, Trevor Tiller.

What inspires you about sport?

The community you can find through sport is one of the reasons I enjoy it so much. The endorphins, and physical development you experience is a large part, but the sense of community is, at least in what I have found, unmatched.

Explain your earliest memory of The Boat Race

Watching The Boat Race in 2012 with my dad would be my earliest memory, but the 2016 Women’s race is a close second.

Do you relish in hours in the gym and miles in the dark, or do you live for race days?

The miles in the dark will always be what I enjoy most, with the chance to develop all together and grow as a squad. Race day is a great reward and culmination in all the training done through the year, but the journey together is much more rewarding for me.

What's the secret to managing elite-level sport with studying at one of the top universities in the world?

Meticulous planning; keeping track of deadlines and planning when to work is key. This is my first year trialling, but having balanced other sport and life around my studies for the last three years, it’s been key to know and plan when I am complete specific pieces of work.
