What inspires you about sport?

Sport offers endless opportunities to grow, whether by refining technique, building strength, or testing your limits. It also has a remarkable ability to unite people from different countries and backgrounds through a shared passion and common goal, and moments of true sportsmanship are always deeply inspiring.

Explain your earliest memory of The Boat Race

I first learned about The Boat Race after I started rowing in undergrad, when a few alumni were competing. We all gathered to watch it together on a projector - it was my first glimpse of the tradition, intensity, and gravity of the event.

Do you relish in hours in the gym and miles in the dark, or do you live for race days?

Both! There’s something deeply satisfying about being on the water - moving together as one boat toward a common goal and pushing yourself to the limit each day (with a sunrise as a bonus!). Race days take that effort to another level: they’re energetic, chaotic, and the perfect chance to leave it all out on the water.

What's the secret to managing elite-level sport with studying at one of the top universities in the world?

The key is balance - making sure to eat, rest, and recover, while also carving out time for things outside rowing and academics that are fun and fulfilling.
