About Lauren Schneiderman

Where did you learn to row and who was your first coach?

St Andrew Rowing Club, Georgia, USA - Jason Berric and Erin Hayes.

What inspires you about sport?

Rowing inspires me through its emphasis on competitiveness, teamwork, and perseverance, which are all qualities that have made me both a better person and athlete.

Explain your earliest memory of The Boat Race

My favorite memory of The Boat Race is rewatching the famous 2003 men's Blue Boat race with my former coach, Jim Omartian, who was the coxswain for Cambridge that year! It was one of the closest races ever, and hearing his perspective made it unforgettable.

Do you relish in hours in the gym and miles in the dark, or do you live for race days?

Race days!

What's the secret to managing elite-level sport with studying at one of the top universities in the world?

I am a big believer in writing out weekly goals and schedule in a physical planner to stay organized and effectively manage the balance between academics and athletics.
