About Iris:

Why did you choose Natural Sciences?

I initially applied to Natural Sciences for the breadth that the course could provide, and now I am specialising in Earth Sciences because I fell in love with how it seeks to explain the world around us, and I love spending time outdoors on field trips.

Why did you first try rowing?

I felt it was worth a try as part of the ‘Cambridge experience’ as I had planned on taking a 1 year break from playing hockey, but I became very quickly hooked!

Who introduced you to the sport of rowing?

Tom Upton at Churchill College Cambridge

Where else have you rowed?

CUBC

What are your proudest rowing achievements?

Winning the 2023 Blondie-Osiris boat race, and winning gold at BUCS in the 4+ later that year.

What would winning The Boat Race mean to you?

Winning the boat race would obviously mean the world to me. When you spend the best part of a year of your life training around the clock for a win-or-lose race, you definitely want to be in the boat that comes out on top.
