Two Oxford rowers and a Cambridge cox have all been named in Team GB crews for the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival in January.
As well as representing Great Britain, Maxie Scheske and Anastasia Chitty are both currently trialling to secure a place in the Oxford Blue Boat for The Newton Women’s Boat Race. Returning Cambridge Blue cox, Ed Bosson, has also been picked for Team GB.
The three of them will join 1700 athletes from 30 different countries competing at five-day festival of elite youth sport which runs from 16-20 January. The festival, held every four years at the Sydney Olympic venues across 17 sports, including rowing, has seen past winners go on to become Olympic Champions.
Ed will cox the Men’s Eight and the women from Oxford will both compete in multiple events. Maxie will be racing in the Women’s Quadruple scull, Eight and Lightweight Double Scull, while Anastasia also competes in the Women’s Eight, as well as the Pair and Four.
