Sunday 6 March saw Oxford University Boat Club 'A' demonstrate a commanding performance against Leander Club A in the second #FixtureSeries.
Leander Club is one of the world's premiere rowing clubs.. “With a reputation for good oarsmanship, good fellowship and sporting excellence," Not only are club members regulars on the British Rowing Team, the club also has a reputation for developing younger athletes to make the transition from club and university programmes into the national team. As such, Leander Club is a regular competitor in the series of Fixtures or private matches in the lead up to The Boat Race each year. Two weeks ago Leander Club women were racing Oxford University Women's Boat Club, this weekend it was the turn of the men's team.
This weekend was the first of two races on the Championship Course for Oxford men 'A' this year and second for OUBC 'B'. It was the first opportunity for Oxford and Cambridge men's crews were under the gaze of spectators. With less than a month to The Gemini Boat Race on Sunday 3 April, both crews were looking to test themselves against the might of Leander, so that they can sharpen their skills and race performance.
The Coaches had agreed to race each other in two pieces along the Championship Course, dividing the course into sections to hold the training pieces along..
