World Rowing has named CUBC President, George Nash, as their “Rising Star” for October, following an incredibly successful 2012 season, which culminated in winning Olympic Bronze at just 23 years old.
George took a year out of his Cambridge studies last season to train full time with the GB rowing squad in the hope of racing at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Great results in training and trials saw George selected for the Men’s Pair, along with Will Satch. The Pair immediately made their presence felt on the international scene with a silver medal in their first World Cup regatta in Belgrade. Come the London 2012 Olympics, their great form continued and they progressed comfortably into the Final. Facing a tough field which included the dominant Kiwi Pair, George and Will produced an incredible race to win the Bronze medal.
George has now returned to Cambridge to finish his Masters in Engineering and is President of the Cambridge University Boat Club for The 2012/13 Boat Race Campaign.
The 2013 BNY Mellon Boat Race will take place on Sunday 31st March at 4:30pm.
