In the build up to this year’s Boat Race, The Boat Race Company have been working collaboratively with the councils of Wandsworth & Richmond, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow who border the Championship Course, sponsors, event stakeholders and key community groups to review and improve our plans for managing waste around The Boat Race. We are proactively managing our environmental impact and engaging withthe local and wider community along the Championship Course. There are a huge number of people who are passionate about protecting our environment and by working together we can collaborate and support each other. We are proactively planning to ensure that any waste generated can be recycled or disposed of in an effective way to minimise litter on land and in the river. Our collective aim is to leave no trace. We recognise that this is an important consideration for everyone and we are committed to improving our plans and our impact on the wider environment year on year. Thanks to the support of BNY Mellon and Newton Investment Management, we are working with an independent environment and sustainability expert to identify ways that we can improve again for 2019 and long into the future. But for this year, please remember that whichever blue you support on Race day, we ask that you be green too. Please reduce your waste and dispose of litter responsibly.
