Personal bio:
Began rowing at Prep School (Pilgrims, Winchester) aged 11. Was also a
member of Winchester Boat Club. Went on to Radley where he was coached by
Donald Leggett (of the current Cambridge coaching team). Was at school
there with Henry Morris (Oxford Blue in 2003/4) Played drums in a school
band with Morris who was a bass guitarist. Also gained a Duke of Edinburgh
gold award and sailed the Atlantic in the Tall Ships Race. Whilst at Oxford
Brookes, where he studied for a degree in Business and English, Tom won a
silver in the coxed four at the World U23 Champs (2004) and ws fifth in the
eight at the World Student Games. Went on to join the GB senior squad in
2005, winning a world cup bronze in May and finishing fourth in the World
Championships final. Tom’s father, Charles, rowed at Oxford for his
college. Brother, Sam, rowed for Isis in 2003 and 2004.
