Personal bio:
Part of the 2005 Isis crew. Drawn to Oxford by the academic course which,
mixed with rowing, gives him a unique opportunity to combine science with
his own sport in a “hands-on” way. Began rowing at school where he
started out as a cox before switching to rowing with humble beginnings as a
“spare” for the freshman third boat. Went on to win world junior bronze
(coxed four) in 2000. Was part of the Harvard University men’s
lightweight crew from 2001 – 2004 and won gold in the IRA (US national
collegiate champs) in 2003 (lightweight eight). Was a semi-finalist in the
Temple Cup at Henley in 2003. Has a degree in neurobiology from Harvard.
