Personal bio:

Chose Oxford because of the good reputation enjoyed by its Chemistry course. Took up rowing at St Pauls school where he was also a good cross-country rower and became rowing captain in 2005. Has already enjoyed a junior international career. Competed in the Coupe de La Jeunesse in 2004 in a pair and won the GB U23 trials in a single aged just 18. Was a Henley semi-finalist in the Princess Elizabeth Cup with St Paul’s in 2004 and 2005 when he was stroke to the eight. George’s grandfather fought in the Boer War and his father was in the Navy.
