A victorious Blue with Oxford in 2005 and voted in as Oxford President in
the summer of 2005. Was part of the Canadian men’s eight at the World
Championships in 2005 after having rowed in a pair with Scott Frandsen
(Oxford Blue 2003) at the early season World Cup regattas. World champion
in the men’s four in 2003 and Olympic silver medallist (four), 2004. Part
of the now legendary 2004 Olympic men’s four race in which Canada, the
reigning world champions, missed out by mere inches to the British men’s
four stroked by Matthew Pinsent. Williams’ wife, Buffy, was fourth in the
women’s pair at the same Games and is also studying (Science and Medicine
of Athletic Performance) at Oxford. Buffy and Barney are expecting their
firt child in January of 2006. Barney was encouraged to come to Oxford by
Alumni such as Scott Frandsen (Boat Race winner in 2003) and Dan Topolski.
