Has rowed since the age of 12 and comes from a rowing background. His English father coached a women’s college crew at Durham University. Went from ninth in the eight at the 2003 Lucerne World Cup, to winning a bronze in the eight and a gold medal in the coxed fours at the U23 World Championships in 2004. His ambition is to win a gold medal London 2012.
