Michael is a two time Olympian (Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004) and a three
time Men’s Eight World Champion (1997-1999). In 2002 in the Men’s
Eight, he won gold at the World Cup and then bronze at the World
Championships. In 2003 he claimed silver in the Men’s Eight at the World
Championships. He is a seven time US National Champion and a six time
winner at the Head of Charles Regatta in the Men’s Eight (1997-2002).
Whilst studying History & Journalism at the University of Minnesota, he
was named ‘Male Club Athlete of the Year’ in 1994, and in 2000 was
named ‘US Rowing Male Athlete of the Year.’
