This Croatian international rower is studying for a one-year MSc in Water Science, Policy and Management at Oxford. Ante took up rowing nine years ago when he and a group of fellow basketball players in Croatia decided to try the sport. Ante completed a BBA in Finance at the University of Washington, Seattle, where he captained the University of Washington Varsity Boat Club. Ante used to watch The Boat Race on television with interest when he lived in Croatia. He won a silver medal as a double sculler at the 2000 World Junior Championships in Zagreb and the following year won gold in the same discipline at the World Junior Championships in Duisburg, Germany. In 2001 Ante was a member of the University of Washington, Seattle, eight that won the Freshmen’s national title. Finished second in the double sculls B finals at both the Gifu 2005 and Eton 2006 World Championships, and third in Croatia’s eight in the B final at the 2003 World Championships in Milan. Ante intends to try and qualify this year for the 2008 Bejing Olympic Games in the double sculls, with his doubles partner, Mario Vekic. Both of them are members of Veslacki Klub Tresnjevka Rowing Club.
