Former Middlesex County junior rugby player who is in the third year of a
Theology course at Oxford. Won the Boat Race in 2006. Was part of the Isis
crew in 2005. Has already enjoyed success at junior international rowing,
winning a coxed four gold at the 2003 Coupe de La Jeunesse and gold in the
four at the 2004 Munich International Regatta. Was part of the GB four at
the 2004 world junior championships. The crew were favourites to win before
Ben Smith fell ill with a bug that spread to other parts of the team,
meaning that Robin also had to sub into the eight. Began rowing at school.
Mother captained Trinity BC, Oxford, and father rowed at Fitzwilliam,
Cambridge. So there are divided loyalties in the family on Race day. Robin
plays the piano, likes driving fast cars and collects lethal weapons
including guns and knives. Has two pet snakes. Both are constrictors and
described as “very friendly”. Elected OUBC President in May 2006.
