In his first year of a Science of Medicine and Athletic Performance course
after graduating from the University of Manchester with an upper second in
biology. Took up rowing as a novice in Manchester and was selected for the
World Class Performance Programme at Christmas in 2004. Won a British
Universities Sports Association novice gold medal in 2004. Plays golf off a
handicap of eight and plays the piano to Grade eight.
