American Russell Glenn coxed the Cambridge reserve crew Goldie to victory
for in the Reserve Race for the third year in a row.
Glenn was initially scheduled to cox the Cambridge Blue Boat in the 153rd
Boat Race, sponsored by Xchanging, but was replaced by Rebecca Dowbiggin.
Glenn paid tribute to his Goldie crewmates. “It was an excellent race and
I was happy to step into Goldie. I’ve done Goldie for the last few years
and we’ve been successful.
“These guys raced it impeccably – it was a perfect Surrey race.
“I think the Goldie spirit is a wonderful thing for the Cambridge
University Boat Club,” he added.
“It was the hardest race I’ve ever had since I started at Cambridge,
but they really stepped up to the plate.
“Isis was an excellent crew, really tenacious,” he added. “We just
got it right on the day.”
