Joel is the first person in his family to go to University and is studying in the 3rd year of a 4 year Mathematics degree. At 1.95m tall, Joel took up rowing as his height was a distinct advantage and because rowing was “a bit more unusual than rugby.” He rowed for his college for his first 2 years at Cambridge and went onto captain Clare College last year. Joel is aiming to row in Goldie. He plays hockey and lacrosse and has lived in Singapore because of his Dad’s job in engineering.
