Personal bio:
His PhD in molecular biology includes the study of Salmonella. Studying at
Cambridge on a Wellcome Trust Studentship. Was a state representative at
schoolboy rugby during which time he played against Wales. His two sisters
and grandfather rowed. Was a World Junior champion in the double scull in
1996, having taken part in both the Nations Cup (World U23 Champs) and the
world junior championships a year earlier – also in the double. Competed
at the 1997 World Cup finals in the men’s quadruple scull. Was also part
of the men’s quadruple scull at the 1999 World U23 Champs. Has won eight
national titles in sculling and won the Kings Cup and Oxford-Cambridge cup
as well as an Inter-Varsity title whilst rowing in Australia. Previously
worked at Imperial College and moved to study at Cambridge with his
supervisor. Has competed in three previous Head of the River races and
knows the Tideway well
