Personal bio:

Coxed the 2005 Goldie crew that won the race against Isis in a course record. Went on to win the Ladies’ Plate at Henley Royal Regatta (2005). After an early sporting career in which he was twice a district champion at wrestling, Russ was attracted into coxing at Brown University where he was second at the IRA (American Collegiate Championships) in 2000 and second at the Head of the Charles in 2003. Twice a district champion in the sport of wrestling. Followed a course in Oriental studies in 2004/5 with a PhD in Management (with Chinese) in 2005/6. When not rowing, enjoys puppies, writing, bench press and pursuing research in Sino-Western relations.
