Personal bio:

Already has a BSc in Sports Studies from Southampton University. He graduated in 2003 and eventually wants to be a teacher. Charlie is engaged to be married in September 2006 to an astrophysicist and rower called Liz Barlow whom he met at Southampton University. Born in Melbourne but was brought up on a farm in Tasmania where his mother was a riding instructor. Charlie was a semi-professional Aussie Rules football player aged 18 and rode horses competitively but decided to give it up and go travelling for several years. During that period he worked as a ski instructor for four seasons and on a horse stud in Israel. As a rower has won gold for England in the single and quadruple scull at the Home Nations regatta and was a finalist in the Diamond Sculls at Henley in 2005 and winner of the London Cup at the Metropolitan Regatta in 2005 as well as being national champion in 2005. His brother and sister both rowed in Tasmania. Enjoys fly-fishing and skiing.
