Personal bio:
Previously studied medicine in Australia and worked as a doctor there for
three years. Came to Cambridge to work in research centred on a group of
genes that, as recently discovered, cause hereditary spastic paraplegia.
Edwards work is focusing on investigating the role these genes are thought
to play in membrane trafficking in the motor and sensory neurons of the
spinal cord. One of Edwards first rowing coaches was Tim McClaren who is
now part of the Cambridge coaching team each year. Edwards went on to
become part of Australias world junior and world U23 championships teams.
His sister and brother both rowed for Australia. Edwards has begun a PhD at
Cambridge.
