Personal bio:
This clinically qualified vet was in the Cambridge Blue Boat in 2003, the
closest Boat Race of all time which Oxford won by just one foot. In his PhD
research he uses the human genome to discover new drugs to treat heart
disease and hypertension. A former World Junior Champs gold medallist
(four, 1994) and three-times World U23 bronze medallist. Has competed for
Germany at the world championships several times in both open weight and
lightweight categories and is one of the lucky few to have beaten Sir Steve
Redgrave (stroking the German four in the 1998 rowing World Cup in Munich).
His sister has twice been world champion in the lightweight quadruple scull
and his girlfriend won a silver medal at the Sydney Olympics in the
lightweight womens double. His interests include reading and eating
(particularly Italian food).
