Founded in 1828, Cambridge University Boat Club is responsible for
organising, training and selecting the Cambridge crews for the Boat Race.
Known as the "Light Blues" because of their club’s colours,
Cambridge have two training facilities. Goldie Boat House, in the heart of
Cambridge, contains a fully-equipped gym where the rowers work out on
ergometers (indoor rowing machines) and weights. Goldie also features an
indoor rowing tank where coaches and rowers can work on technique.
Most afternoons the Cambridge squads train on the river at Ely where they
have a boat house.
Cambridge’s reserve crew on Boat Race day is called Goldie.
