Goldie, the Cambridge reserve crew, won the toss for this afternoon’s (Saturday) Reserve Race and elected to row from Surrey Station.

Goldie chose Surrey for last year’s Reserve Race - a race that that they won.

The Cambridge reserve boat is bidding to complete a hat-trick of successive victories.

Goldie have won 27 Reserve Races to date, with the Oxford reserve boat, Isis, having 15 wins to their name.

The Goldie-Isis Race gets underway at 4pm today (Saturday), with the Boat Race, sponsored by Xchanging, starting at 4.30pm.

Both races are over the same gruelling four and a quarter mile Tideway course from Putney to Mortlake.
