Colin Smith, Tom Parker and Robin Ejsmond Frey, three of Oxford’s
winning 2006 Boat Race crew, will feature in the Great Britain Senior
Rowing Trials which begin in Belgium tomorrow morning.
Smith races in the men’s single scull and Ejsmond Frey in the
men’s pair with Rob Rayner of York University.
Parker, meanwhile, has chosen to team up in the men’s pair with
Kieran West, former Cambridge President and part of the Light Blue crew
once more in 2006.
West’s CUBC team-mates Tom James, from the Blue Boat and Charlie
Palmer of Goldie also appear on the entry list for Belgium. James will
contest the men’s pair with Matthew Langridge of Leander Club and
Palmer races in the men’s single scull.
Previous Blues who will also race at the Trials for places in the senior GB
boats this season include Tom Stallard, Josh West, Toby Wallace, James
Orme, Peter Reed and Andy Hodge.
The latter former Oxford duo start as favourites to retain the men’s
pair title which they won in 2005 at the start of a season which saw them
go on to become World Champions.
