The 2006 Boat Race, sponsored by Xchanging, will be seen on television in
at least 191 countries around the world with a predicted global TV audience
of over 120 million.
ITV 1 will once more be host broadcasters for the event which dates back to
1829. Their UK television audience in 2006 could well rise above the almost
six million viewers who watched The Race at peak twelve months ago.
LBC will be broadcasting live audio - alongside three hours of build-up
news and features - on 97.3fm. They will also provide live audio on their
website (www.lbc.co.uk).
The presence of Bastien Ripoll in the Oxford crew means that two French
television stations have taken an interest in The Race - France 1 and
France 2. Ripoll is the first Frenchman in over 150 years to take part in
The Race.
